These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CourseLink (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
CourseLink is a rule-based academic planning support tool for students of the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). It helps you plan course selection, track graduation requirements, and analyze drop/fail decisions, with outputs traceable to official UTSC rules.
The Service is currently an invite-only beta limited to UTSC students. You must be at least the age of majority in your province/territory, or have parental/guardian consent, and provide accurate information. We may modify, suspend, or limit beta access at any time.
You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Keep your password confidential and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may suspend accounts that appear compromised or that violate these Terms.
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for anything other than your own academic planning; (b) scrape, resell, or redistribute Service outputs or data; (c) attempt to circumvent access controls, rate limits, or the Free/Pro boundary; (d) probe, attack, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; (e) submit unlawful content or misuse another person's data; or (f) use automated means to access the Service except as expressly permitted.
With your consent, parts of the Service use an AI provider (Anthropic) to generate analysis (see Privacy Policy). AI-assisted outputs are advisory, may contain errors, and must be verified against official UTSC sources. CourseLink's rule-based provenance is authoritative over any AI-generated suggestion where the two conflict.
The Service, its software, and its original content are owned by CourseLink and its licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your personal academic planning. UTSC course and calendar data remain the property of their respective owners; CourseLink references such data under fair-dealing/educational use and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the University of Toronto.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect, how AI processing works, where data is stored (primary in Canada; encrypted backups replicated to the U.S.), and your rights under PIPEDA.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any recommendation will achieve a particular academic result. Course availability, deadlines, and rules are set by the University, not by CourseLink.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CourseLink and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any academic, financial, or other loss arising from your use of or reliance on the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CourseLink and its operators from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (erasure is available in-app). We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.
We may update the Service and these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date and, where appropriate, in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Ontario have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your place of residence.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and CourseLink regarding the Service. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
